Role and Responsibilities
The Aleut International Association Environmental Coordinator will be a proactive member in regional and international outreach, advancing the organization’s environmental goals in the Aleut Region, including both the United States and the Russian Federation. The Environmental Coordinator will help to promote our mission and programs, and raise awareness in local Aleut communities, as well as at Regional, State, National and International levels. The individual will be passionate, energetic, and enthusiastic about working with AIA on important programs, partnerships, and activities.
The Environmental Coordinator will be required to quickly familiarize themselves with the Arctic Council, AIA communities, current programs and partnerships and engage with those communities about AIA activities across several different platforms. The primary role for this position is to manage AIA’s EPA IGAP grant as well as play an active role in day-to-day communication activities (electronic, social and traditional media).
The Environmental Coordinator will be required to assist the Executive Director, Staff, Board of Director’s and Volunteers with Travel and Board meeting preparation, Grants Management and various other tasks and day to day activities. Other duties include but are not limited to:
· Attending and presenting at meetings, conferences, seminars, and workshops on AIA’s behalf
· Collaborate with different departments and colleagues to produce regular content (written stories, photos and video assets) for email, website, traditional, and social media outreach.
· Travel arrangements, event planning and fundraising activities
· Board Meetings preparation and other Administrative tasks
· Grant research, writing, budgeting and reporting
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, International Relations, Communications or Environmental science required or equivalent work experience
· Knowledge of the Aleut region and the Arctic Council
· Highest level of interpersonal & communication skills required
· Public speaking & community engagement
· Valid Passport or the willingness and ability to obtain one

· Ability to work in a fast-past environment and multitask
· Ability to work independently & collaboratively
· Ability to meet multiple deadlines for a variety of projects
· Valid driver’s license and own transportation
